Wellbeing

At Eggbuckland Vale Primary School, we aim to promote positive mental health and wellbeing for our whole school community (children, staff, parents and carers), and recognise how important mental health and emotional wellbeing is to our lives in just the same way as physical health.

We are committed to delivering a Trauma Informed approach to ensure that all our children develop positive mental health and resilience, enabling them to fully engage in life and learning. Our Relationship Policy drives all of our interactions and we invest in a highly skilled team, including our Family Support Advisor and our Staff Well-being Ambassadors..

At our school we know that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us vulnerable at times. We work alongside our families to nurture children’s mental health and well-being. We are keen to share tools and resources to support children’s wellbeing and education and here you can access a range of free resources for children and parents.

If you have any concerns about how your child is coping or you need any other support from the school, please let us know by speaking to or emailing a member of your child’s year group team.

As part of our whole School approach to mental health and wellbeing, we have developed a number of strategies and interventions to actively support employees and promote a culture of wellbeing.

One of these initiatives is a group of Staff Wellbeing Ambassadors who are located across various departments within the school.

Our Wellbeing Ambassadors are volunteers from across the school who play a key role in supporting the Senior Leadership Team to achieve our staff wellbeing aspirations.

The purpose of the role is to promote and support our staff wellbeing strategy by raising awareness around health and wellbeing activities and signposting to resources and support services. Our Ambassadors have a strong awareness of the school’s staff wellbeing strategy, enabling them to support / signpost colleagues to relevant resources.

Staff Well-being Ambassadors are:

  • Trained to identify signs of stress, decreased wellbeing and mental health concerns, learning how to offer everyday support and signposting.
  • Trained to provide extra knowledge about creating a culture of wellbeing across the school.
  • Part of a formal network, supported by our Senior Leadership Team
