Transition to Secondary

Transition to Secondary School
The move from primary to secondary education can be stressful for any young person, particularly those young people with additional needs. Here is a link the 'Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities' which offers useful information and offers support. The linked page also includes a number of downloadable information files which include top tips and support for busy families. Here are a couple of additional items, a useful booklet for finding a school for children with Autism which includes a checklist for finding an appropriate school and a leaflet on how to work with your childs school.

If you have any queries or would like to discuss things further please do not hesitate to contact either Mrs Baker (SENCo), Mrs Bird (ASC TA and ELSA) or Dinah (FSA).  Finally, you can contact the SENCo or Family Support Advisor at the receiving Secondary School and many of the schools have open evenings tailored for parents of children with additional needs.  Good luck we understand it can be a tricky decision to make!
